Sustainability

Cardenche’s mission is to be a progressive luxury knitwear label, responding thoughtfully to the questions and challenges of our time. Our sustainability values reflect what we stand for: a set of guiding principles that lead us toward long-term progress across our key commitments.

Founded in Lima, Perú, Cardenche is a young brand born from a deep desire to create with intention and purpose. Though new to the market, its essence was shaped slowly — honoring process, valuing craftsmanship, and celebrating what endures. We approach knitwear through a different lens: timeless, yet forward-minded; elegant, yet defined by character.

At the heart of Cardenche is the pursuit of conscious luxury — where design, quality, and responsibility exist in balance. We openly recognize that we are a sustainable brand in progress, not perfection. Every collection and every decision reflects our commitment to improving our practices, reducing our impact, and evolving with transparency.

Sustainability, for us, is a living journey — one that invites continuous learning, new methods, and long-term dedication. Our goal is simple: to become the most responsible and sustainable version of ourselves while creating pieces made to last.

Thoughtful Creativity

For Cardenche, creativity is not just a skill — it is the lens through which we imagine a better future. We believe that contemporary creativity must be conscious, rooted in awareness, and bold enough to respond to the challenges of our time. As the planet undergoes profound shifts, we recognize that every decision a brand makes carries lasting impact.

Fashion is a form of expression — of identity, intention, and values. That is why we design with purpose, crafting pieces that honor individuality while embracing our shared responsibility to build a more sustainable and inclusive world. We prioritize thoughtful questions over trends, and curiosity over speed.

Our Creative Commitment embodies the values that guide us on this journey. By integrating these principles into everything we do, we set a path toward progress — relevant for today, significant for tomorrow.

Honest Materials

At Cardenche, materials are the beginning of every story we tell. They shape our silhouettes, inform our textures, and guide the way each piece comes to life. Whether fluid or sculptural, delicate or structured, we care deeply about where our fibers originate — and how they are made. Our commitment is simple: to work with high-quality, responsible materials that endure.

We craft our pieces using noble yarns such as baby alpaca, alpaca, and merino wool — natural fibers of exceptional quality that offer a rare balance of softness, structure, and functionality. These materials provide remarkable thermal properties: they retain warmth in winter, adapt naturally to milder climates, and remain breathable, biodegradable, renewable, and impressively durable.

Because these fibers come from a cyclical, low-impact process that requires less water and fewer chemicals, they break down within years rather than decades. Alpacas themselves are gentle on the land, making this fiber one of the most eco-friendly options in the industry. This translates into garments that not only feel extraordinary on the skin — but are made to last.

One Cardenche piece can replace multiple layers of fast fashion. Less consumption, better choices.

Responsible Yarns

All of our baby alpaca, alpaca, and merino wool is sourced in Peru through INCALPACA TPX S.A., a company that works closely with local herding communities, preserving ancestral shearing traditions and supporting long-term economic stability.

Certifications

FAIR TRADE Peru Good Practices · WRAP Gold Certificate of Compliance · BASC Compliance · Carbon Footprint Certification by the Peruvian Ministry of Production.

Why Alpaca

Alpaca is naturally soft, lightweight, and warmer than most wools — and is considered one of the most eco-friendly fibers in the world due to its minimal environmental footprint and exceptional thermal performance.

Animal Welfare

All fibers are sourced responsibly, following ethical practices in which no animals are harmed.

Recycled Materials

At Cardenche, we are committed to expanding the use of recycled materials as one of the most effective ways to preserve natural resources. Some of our pieces incorporate recycled fibers — including recycled PET (rPET) — reducing reliance on virgin, fossil-fuel-based materials and lowering the overall environmental impact of each garment. Recycled alternatives also allow us to minimize risks related to animal welfare, particularly when using recycled down.

We pair these innovations with our signature noble fibers — baby alpaca, alpaca, and merino wool — blending them with materials such as Drytex or recycled polyamides that enhance softness, lightness, structure, and breathability. Each blend is chosen with precision to ensure that every piece not only looks refined, but feels exceptional, maintains its shape, and endures beautifully over time.

The Living Portfolio

At Cardenche, we don’t follow the traditional fashion calendar. As a Peruvian knitwear label committed to sustainability, we approach creation through a more conscious and flexible lens. We speak of drops, not collections — a living portfolio where each new piece is designed to converse with the ones that came before it, building a wardrobe that is durable, versatile, and timeless.

Our releases are intentional and unhurried. Rather than replacing what already exists, every edition is crafted to enrich it — allowing each garment to find its place within a coherent, thoughtful, and purpose-driven narrative.
We believe in pieces with identity, designed to transcend seasons and elevate the everyday.

All our garments are made using noble fibers such as baby alpaca, alpaca, and merino wool — natural materials of exceptional quality that offer softness, structure, and functionality in equal measure. This is the foundation of a wardrobe built to last.
